Raiders Draft Prospect: DE Mohamed Kamara, CSU
Lucas Boland/The Coloradoan-USA TODAY NETWORK

The Las Vegas Raiders are looking for their next young stars in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The NFL Scouting Combine begins next week at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., a chance for the Raiders, along with the rest of the league, to meet players and get to know them on and off the field.

The Raiders will see prospects test their athleticism and have the chance to meet them face-to-face, an invaluable experience in the draft process. General Manager Tom Telesco will evaluate which players best fit the team's needs.

One of those players could be Colorado State defensive lineman Mohamed Kamara. One of the best players in the Mountain West in the last two seasons, Kamara is looking to be an early draft pick.

Kamara finished his Rams career with 179 total tackles, 45.5 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and 29.5 sacks. He won Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and was First-Team All-Mountain West in 2023.

Kamara will be at the combine, showing off his athleticism and explosiveness. Those are two of his most appealing traits as a pass-rusher. He stands at 6-foot-1 and 250 pounds. He has good size and length for an NFL edge rusher.

Kamara played in the Shrine Bowl and was among the best players there. He has strength and speed off the edge with an unorthodox approach. He quickly gets into the backfield and is twitchy when getting after the quarterback.

According to Pro Football Focus, Kamara generated 64 total pressures, including 10+ twice. He is a relentless force off the edge and has the versatility to play in any scheme.

Kamara also projects as a good run defender, as he can explode off the snap and shoot gaps to stop ball carriers. He is a well-rounded player who could be a value pick on the second or third day.

If he wants to be a truly effective pass rusher in the NFL, Kamara must develop a pass-rush move or two. He relies on his athleticism and strength to win against offensive linemen, which does not always work in the NFL. He also tends to be over-aggressive in run pursuit.

Kamara projects as a day three selection, but could see his stock rise with a good combine performance. If the Raiders are looking for a good athlete to play off the edge, Kamara could be a good fit.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
